In his interview, Alex says that when it comes to his work, he prefers to protects himself from other artists once he doesn't want to be influenced by them. This intriguing point of view made me think if it's possible to protect ourselves (our work, specifically) from what we see everyday. As a jornalist I must admit that's impossible not to absorbe what we read. Thus, if I'm reading a Saramago's book, for example, I immediatelly find myself writing long sentences in my own articles. I'd like to know what you think about this matter.
