I've been reading about Cartagena, and it seems that there are two different worlds co-existing there - the tourists and the 'natives'. That's true with many Caribbean communities, I think. It's a difficult to figure out how to balance the two so that all can prosper without raping the environment or taxing a city's infrastructure. Sometimes I think that Global Warming will become so severe that these issues of balance will become irrelevant and people will stop flying around the globe at the drop of a hat, and every group of people will be forced to revert back to being insular and self-dependant. In some way, that seems like the only way to resolve these every complexifying puzzles.

I am sure this planet can shake us humans off like a bad cold or at least keep them at bay like the strep virus that lives on our bodies. I wonder what sort of effect these photographs are going to have on the socio-political situation in La Boquilla. Will they stimulate tourism and if so what effect will that have on the people, economy and environment of La Boquilla. I am very curious to see this unfold.
